Daniel J. Shea

Daniel J. Shea was born in 1943 in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of a quality control engineer involved in the U.S. space program.

After completing his initial schooling in parochial schools in Providence, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1960, becoming a nuclear reactor operator in the submarine program. He was stationed on the ballistic submarine Ulysses S. Grant in 1963, prior to its commissioning in 1964, remaining stationed there until 1965.

In 1970, he went to Belgium to study at the Catholic University in Louvain, completing his undergraduate degree in philosophy in 1971, and his graduate degree in theology in 1973, having done his graduate and undergraduate work simultaneously.

Between 1973 and 1987, Dan worked as a consultant in the utility industry, providing operator training and utility management consulting for new nuclear and fossil fuel plants across the United States.

Dan attended South Texas College of Law in Houston in 1987, completing his law degree and passing the bar in November 1990. Since that time Dan has had his own practice in Houston, where he has been engaged in federal and state litigation, principally for plaintiffs. Since 2001, he has been heavily engaged in civil rights and personal injury litigation.
